FAST dominate at Counties Zone Swimming

 

The blue caps of FAST were everywhere at the Jubilee pool on Friday 13th March when the best swimmers in Year 7 and 8 competed at the Counties School Zone Swimming.

FAST were in dazzling form, with our swimmers topping three of the four age groups.

Elizabeth Murphy was the top Year 7 Girl and broke the year 7 50m Breaststroke record. She placed 1st in the 50 free and 50 Breast, 2nd in the 50 back, 3rd in the 100 free and 3rd in the open 50 fly.

Matthew Waddell was the top Year 7 Boy and broke the year 7 50m Backstroke record. He came first in the 50 free, 100 free and 50 back, 2nd in the 50 breast and 3rd in the open 50 fly.

Brandon Walton was the top Year 8 Boy and broke the records in the 100m Free, 50m free and 50m Breaststroke. He came first in the 100m Free, 50m Free, 50m Breast and 50m open Fly and 3rd in the 50m Back.

Blake Elliott was the second Year 8 Boy winning the 50m back and coming second in the 100m free, 50m free and open 50m Fly. He broke the 50m Backstroke record in the heats and broke his own record in the finals.

Brandon and Blake were in the winning Pukekohe Intermediate’s teams for the Year 8 boys freestyle relay and the open boys medley relay.

Emma Mathieson was the second Year 8 girl. She came second in the 100m free and 50m breast, 3rd in the 50m free and 4th in the 50m back. She was a member of the winning Pukekohe Intermediate’s teams in the Year 8 girls freestyle relay and the open girls medley relay. The Year 8 team also broke the freestyle relay record.

Molly Kaio came 4th in the Year 7 girls, placing 4th in the 100m free, 50m free, 50m back and 50m breast. Molly was a member of the winning Pukekohe Intermediate’s Year 7 freestyle relay team that also broke the record.

Charlotte McConnell, Alexander Murphy and Alissa te Kiri qualified for the finals in all the events they competed in and achieved several pbs.

Elizabeth, Matthew, Brandon, Blake and Emma all qualified for the Auckland champs which take place at the end of March.
