Prize Giving is this Sunday

As you know the 2021-2022 Swim season ends this month and the 1st of July marks the start of the new swim season.

FAST prize giving will be held this Sunday in the Patamahoe Primary's school hall. The action kicks of at 2pm.

This is also our AGM and a great opportunity for swimmers and parents to meet team mates from the morning/evening sessions.

As you are all aware FAST is a club and is run by volunteers, we're looking for parents to join the committee to fill a few vaccancies.

Counties Age Group Champs and NZ Junior Festival wrap up!!!

Counties Age Group Long Course Championship 2021

.

Well done to everyone, Coaches, Swimmers and Parents who stuck it out for a long weekend at Papatoetoe – Special thanks to those who stayed for the marathon Saturday afternoon session that was a saga of technical issues and a visitation of ducks.

.

In a pool that is well known as ‘slow’ and hard to get a pb in, we had an amazing success rate of 43%.  20 swimmers, 115 total swims and of that 115 swims there were 49 PB’s!  Add to that only 2 DQ’s.  This was made even harder by the distraction of sharing the pool with a family of ducks determined to stick it out.

.

Well done team – you have done yourselves proud.

.

Congratulations to Lara for setting the Club 10 year old Girls 200m Fly Long Course Record

We also found ourselves in the bling for the weekend!   Congratulations to all our medal winners.

Thank you once again to our officials and timekeepers.  These events are made possible by fantastic volunteers such as yourselves.  I am sure our swimmers greatly appreciate your time on pool deck.

.

Thank you also to everyone who helped with the BBQ Fundraiser on Sunday – Huge thank you to Nicollette, who did an exceptional job of organising the event.   The fundraising we do as a club goes to support sending our coaches to events and everyone’s support is greatly appreciated.

NZ Junior Festival – Harlequins 6th & 7th February 2021

.

Congratulations to all our swimmers at the NZ Junior Festival – Harlequins Zone held at the National Aquatic Centre in Albany over the weekend.  There were some long days and you all kept doing your absolute best.

.

Supercoach LC’s training programme was timed perfectly for our swimmers who achieved some massive pb’s, with Charlotte, Eddie and Milan all getting 100% pb’s.

.

Congratulations to Talia for beating the Club 12 year old Girls 200m Backstroke Short Course Record, a record that had been in place since May 2017!

.

Our Swimmers achieved 8 top 10 finishes with Sophie coming 2nd in the 12yo Girls Free Kick event.

.

Massive thanks to LC for getting the absolute best out of our swimmers, thanks must also go to Super Managers Anthony and Sharni for keeping the swimmers in line and on time.

FAST is back in 2020!!!

Hi team!

.

Welcome back to the fold for the back end of the 2020 calendar year of swimming!  LC and our assistant coaches have our squads back up to speed with trainings, with a number of meets coming up over the next month or so.  With COVID-19 hopefully behind us (for good) the team are looking forward to dipping their toes back into competitive swimming once again.

.

At the Annual General Meeting held in mid-June, there were a number of changes made to the makeup of the FAST Committee.  The 2020/21 FAST Committee and their roles are as follows -

.

Anthony Chaney (Chair)

Pam Bowskill (Recorder)

Jo Batters (Treasurer)

Mandy Clark (Secretary)

Nicollette Stewart (Fundraising)

Debbie Montgomery (Social)

.

We would like to take the time once again to acknowledge our departing Committee Members - Debra Hawley, Sara Murphy and Cathy Fletcher and the wish them and their families all the best with their future ventures.

.

Next week we've got the FAST Trophy presentations for the 2019/20 season as well as a bit of a celebration (and pizza) before we hit our holiday intensive programme which will be kicking off from the first week of July.  We look forward to seeing you all there!

.

As it's the end of the Swimming NZ swimming year, please be aware that you will need to have your subscriptions updated if you are to compete either as a 'Club Swimmer' or 'Competitive Swimmer'.  For more details or enquiries of what is required please check in with Pam Bowskill (recorderforfast@gmail.com) or with Mandy Clark (enquirefast@gmail.com).

.

Thanks team, i'm really excited about what's to come this year for FAST and look forward with sharing the journey with all of you.  Take care and see you all poolside!
